Northview Elementary STEM Fair
What is a STEM fair?
STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. A STEM fair is similar to a science fair, but it showcases the connection between science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. It is an opportunity for students to explore the natural world and apply scientific skills and processes while answering one specific question. All projects must have a testable question and involve gathering data to answer that question.
What has changed this year?
Third graders participating in the Prince George's County Fair will have to do a research paper.
No STEM books are being printed out.

Need help choosing a topic?
When it comes to choosing a topic, the sky is the limit! What have you wondered about? The best topics come from your own genuine curiosity about how something works, or why something is the way that it is. But if you have trouble thinking of something on your own, the internet is full of resources to help you choose a topic.

Judging and awards.
Our goal is to encourage scientific exploration and discovery and promote a deep lifelong passion for science. Classroom teachers will be using a county rubric to choose students from their class to be further judged by our volunteer judges on Friday, March 24th.We are hoping to have several go on to the county KFS (Kids For Science) Fair in May. Each participant will have an opportunity to briefly present their project to their classmates and teacher, and they will each receive a certificate at the school level.
